Ira G. Witherspoon Jr., founder of Witherspoon & Company, LLC, is a retired Fire Captain, accomplished educator, and community leader who served the Charlotte Fire Department with distinction for over 26 years. Throughout his fire service career, he demonstrated leadership in emergency response, training, and mentorship, helping to shape the next generation of public safety professionals.
After retiring, Ira continued his dedication to education with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where he taught Public Safety and achieved over a 90% student credential attainment rate, including certifications such as CERT and industry-recognized NECI 911 during the 2023–2024 school year.
As the visionary behind Next Gen Public Safety Pathways, Ira is committed to developing structured, mentorship-driven programs that provide guidance through the hiring process, strengthen foundational skills, and prepare candidates to meet professional standards with confidence.
